Slide the shaft out the back of the bracket tube, pay attention where the o-ring goes if your bike has one. Clean the tube and shaft. You might be surprised at all the rust and crud in there. WebFeb 13, 2014 · Yes, removing the shift arm next to the cylinder allows the shaft to be pulled out of the bore. If you haven't removed the arm before, the bolt must be removed from the arm because the bolt goes through a narrow spot on the shaft which keeps the arm from falling off even if the bolt is a bit loose. WebMay 23, 2013 · Cleaned it up and inserted the new bushings by tapping them in, then using the aformentioned socket and a "C" clamp as a press to get the bushings to the correct depth. Usually the pinch bold comes loose and allows the lever to wear on the shaft. It cannot be tightened to spec with a common allen wrench, You need allen sockets. WebNext time grab the shift linkage rod and just shift it into neutral with that. Way easier than pushing a bike in gear with the clutch depressed (which is not neutral). You will have to get into the inner primary to replace it. You need a new shift shaft. Don't forget to replace the shift shaft seal as well.
