The drivetrain chainline is the reason for the wider cranks. The cassette on the rear hub is spaced wider than a 170mm fatbike, the chainring needs to be wider to be centered on the cassette. No, the wider Q factor is not a problem. 197mm is the most common rear hub spacing in modern fat bikes.
